The Audrey Edna Cabin in La Honda provides a unique private gathering place for visitors. It offers breathtaking views of the Santa Cruz Mountains — and even the Pacific Ocean on a clear day.
Designed for a hike-in experience, this special destination lies within the 350-acre Alpine Ranch. POST purchased the property in 2012 in an ongoing initiative to protect 20,000 acres of redwoods in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Among its assets was a cabin built in the early 1900s, standing atop a scenic overlook. In 2018, POST reconstructed the cabin for all to enjoy, naming it the Audrey Edna Cabin in honor of a donor’s loved one.
If your schedule allows for a weekday getaway, we highly recommend booking a stay at this one-of-a-kind locale. As part of our commitment to equitable public access, weekends are reserved for our unique partnership with San Mateo County Health’s Park Rx program. Its purpose is to promote the use and enjoyment of parks and public lands to benefit physical and mental health.
The cabin’s communal spaces invite guests to gather for food, conversation and play. From the front porch, take in spectacular views of vast redwood forests, starlit skies, the ocean and the Butano ridgeline. This peaceful spot neighbors Sam McDonald County Park, where you can explore county parkland on foot, via bicycle or on horseback.
The two-bedroom cabin sleeps up to 12 guests (if you’re willing to get cozy!). It features potable water, a full kitchen and two toilets. You can reserve the the cabin via Hipcamp, an online company that offers outdoor stays and camping experiences. To learn more about the sleeping arrangements and other amenities, please review the Hipcamp listing. This is a hike-in experience; that is, visitors can reach the cabin via a 1.7-mile hike on a rolling dirt road. Guests with limited mobility can request accommodations to access the cabin through the Hipcamp listing.
We hope you and your loved ones are able to visit soon!
