Registration is now full – thank you for your interest in volunteering with us. Please check back for future events!

Join Peninsula Open Space Trust, Surfrider Foundation – San Mateo County Chapter, and Sea Hugger or a beach cleanup during our weekend of service in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. We’ll be cleaning up St. Francis Beach, directly below the POST-protected Andreotti Family Farm in Half Moon Bay.

Volunteers will be provided buckets, and gloves to help pick up trash on St. Francis Beach following the king tide, which usually causes a lot of trash to surface on local beaches. Come meet other people who are passionate about the environment, and learn about POST and Surfrider’s efforts to protect our local coasts!

The event is free, but registration is required. More details will follow in an advance email to all registrants the week before our cleanup. Please note: all minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the entire duration of the event.

This event is part of POST’s community event series. These events are open to the general public as well as POST donors, and we hope you will join us! We also curate a separate series of private events for our donor community. Learn more about how you can support POST here:

About Francis Beach:
Francis Beach is the southernmost beach in Half Moon Bay State Beach. Francis Beach has a nice grassy park with many picnic tables and barbecues on the bluff above the ocean. The Half Moon Bay Coastal Trail passes through the park and offers you a walking and biking opportunity in either direction. Swimming can be dangerous here due to strong rip currents. To get here just head west on Kelly Avenue from downtown Half Moon Bay and turn right after Balboa Boulevard. The parking lot and entrance station are directly ahead.
