COVID-19 Update: POST is postponing Bike the Coast on June 20 due to an abundance of caution and to prevent the spread of coronavirus. We are working to plan for an alternate date and will share details as soon as possible.

Bike the Coast with POST!

This beautiful bike tour will pass through a wide variety of landscapes that make up the 6,391-acre “Cloverdale Coastal Ranches” property, which is protected and available for lease to farmers and ranchers through the efforts of POST.

The ride will take you past redwood forests, rolling grasslands, coastal bluffs, and working row crop fields and rangelands. The 17-mile route is completely paved and consists mostly of gently rolling hills. There will be a five-mile stretch along Highway 1, followed by a modest 250-foot elevation gain over 1.5 miles as we head inland.

This cycling route works well for road bikes, hybrids, or even mountain bikes, as we will be on pavement and riding at a relaxed pace. The loop is appropriate for cyclists of all levels, so feel free to invite your biking buddies! However, “cruisers” and other bicycles that are intended for shorter rides on flat terrain, as well as bikes that are not in good working order, are not recommended.

Important Information

Our tour departs at 10am and will take 2 to 2.5 hours. Over the course of the tour, we will make a few stops to learn about the history of the land, take in the views of the Pacific.

In addition to your bike and helmet, please bring water, sunscreen, and snacks.

After you RSVP, we’ll send you our exact meeting place for the bike tour. We hope to see you there!

This event is part of POST’s community event series. These events are open to the general public as well as POST donors, and we hope you will join us! We also curate a separate series of private events for our donor community. Learn more about how you can support POST here: openspacetrust.org/support
