Follow meandering trails through a massive eucalyptus, pine and cypress forest which leads to some of the best views of the Half Moon Bay harbor. This coastside gem is yours to explore thanks to POST, who in 2002 protected the land from the threat of development.
Watch for:
Over 50 species of birds, the Mesozoic-age granite of the old quarry floor, the terrace wetland and views of POST-protected Pillar Point.

Overview:
For a short and easy dog-friendly hike around this county park, try the Vista Point Trail, a 2.2-mile out-and-back route. The trail begins as a service road at the gate opposite Columbus Street in the main Quarry Park parking lot and travels through a dense eucalyptus forest.
There is a moderate elevation gain as you climb up to the vista point but it’s well worth the effort to catch a glimpse of the ocean through the trees and there is even a deck where you can stop to enjoy the views. After you’ve rested and taken in the sights, head back to the trailhead the way you came. The trail is open to hikers, horses, bikes and dogs on leashes. It’s a favorite among local dog walkers.

The Backstory
The Wicklow property is part of Quarry Park in the small coastal community of El Granada. Wicklow is made up of 478 acres of grassy hillsides, coastal ridges, a massive Eucalyptus forest and pines and cypress groves. POST acquired this property in 2002 as a gift from a couple who owned the property and wanted the land to be preserved just as it was. This amazing gift helped increase the amount of connected land POST has protected in the area. There is a network of trails throughout the property that go right up from the playground, restroom and parking lot already present at Quarry Park.
